Re: Brindle Boy nees help in MO
i hear that, morf!!! my dogs are easily bribed by treats and generally love anyone...... but you can get a good sense of a person by the way they act around/treat the dogs. if i dont like the interaction, or they're not a dog person, then they have to go.

Re: Brindle Boy nees help in MO
Haha Donnie - yeah, Luca is my main man for checking out guys I might date. I bring 'em home to meet Luca, and he gives his opinion. If anyone has a problem with Luca, or Luca has a problem with them, they are OUT.
But I have *some* sympathy for how a dog can bring up issues in a relationship. Akasha GREATLY preferred my ex-husband to me. I used to call her "The Other Woman". People often aren't aware of how they are accidentally encouraging the dog to "take sides" between a husband and wife. I think my ex kinda liked the "two chicks fighting over me" vibe even if one of the "chicks" was a dog.

How would any sane man with any dignity actually think his wife would choose a dog over him .... I mean that just an insecure moron!
No matter if she gets rid of him or not, its not the dog that the cause of the strain in their marriage ... What a douchebag!

Cane Corso Rescue is going to rehome this one. So I think we can move it to Happy Rescues now.

Re: Brindle Boy nees help in MO
that is terrible i could make all kinds of suggestions that i am sure everyone here would make like a trainer animal behaviorist
it will be so very hard for gus poor boy while marcia feels the dogs pain and the husband well
well in my mind were there is a will there is a way but i will keep my eyes open for someone who has experience with big breeds and would take the time to get him help . how sad wow

that's terrible! I hope that boy finds a home. I wonder if he went to a home with another dog if he'd settle in easier?

Re: Brindle Boy nees help in MO
:-\what a horrible situation to be in. hopefully someone can step in and form a new bond with Gus. This is giong to be devastating for the dog especially is he is so bonded. good lesson to make sure that all humans in the house want a dog/puppy and that all dogs respect all humans in the house.

Brindle Boy nees help in MO
I just got this 16 mins ago in my email:

Jonna,
I have a 2 year old Italian mastiff. My husband and him HATE each other. It is now so bad that my husband sleeps in our spare bedroom because Gus sleeps in our bedroom. I have reached the point where I must get rid of this dog. He is a sweetheart but he is VERY attached to me and only me. I have contacted the Italian mastiff rescue but have not heard back from them.
I was wondering if your rescue organization could take him or I'm afraid I might have to put him to sleep. I don't want to take him to the local shelter because the average person will see him, want him, then take him home and be mean to him because he's going to be depressed not being with me. Or they will see a big dog that looks mean and mistreat him because he's not mean. I can't allow my marriage to crumble. It is like my husband and Gus are playing tug-of-war and I'm the rope in the middle. My husband feels like I am chosing the dog over him. But Gus is going to take someone with a lot of patience to overcome his attachment issues to me.
Thank you in advance for your time. I have attached a picture of him. He is a neutered male and weighs 95 pounds. He is current on his vaccinations.
Sincerely,
Rachel Bozarth
