Hey Everybody,
I hope it's okay that I offer some advice. This is just my opinion and I'm not claiming to be perfect, just rehabbed a lot of rescues in the last 15yrs. I read this post and it breaks my heart to see this guy continuing to be passed around. Until you rehabilitate the root cause, I don't see things getting better for him. If there was someway to get him to North Carolina, I'd try to help you guys fix this and get him in a forever home.
Just to clarify he was not shuffeled from home to home. He was in a short-term foster (with Orabella) and then to "forever" home until he started eating their house. He is now in doggie rehab somewhere in Cincinnatti. Orabella could tell you exactly where, I can't remember the name. Thank you so much for your offer to help!

From what I hear he's anxious when caged or separated and the root cause of that is insecurity. He needs to be put in a kennel that he can't escape from and work this his anxiety. He will build confidence by realizing that he can be confined and still be safe. Arnold was just like that when he came here. He broke out of my 8GA. 54" crate and I thought that crate was impenetrable. LOL He then broke out of three other confinement areas. We finally put him in a 6 X 7 kennel that's concrete on bottom and one wall. 8GA wire banded to 2" OD poles. The fence is tied to the poles with a continuous length of wire, so it can't be pried off. the front gate has top and bottom latches and a rod that drops down through the concrete in front of the gate, so it can't be pushed open even if he got the latches open. He had a 5 gallon bucket for water that was attached to the fence and a raised bed made of 2 X 4's with shavings in it. I know it's an exact description, but I'm trying to help you visualize how strong it had to be. He had a tough day or two but he eventually settled down and now he will go in his kennel to sleep even when the door's open. I can crate him anywhere I need to and he stays. He's also much more secure in all situations. He just had to learn that he could stand on all fours and be safe. I hope this helps.

Re: Blue male in need of foster or forever home!!
That's unfortunate things didn't work out.
Also, they might be able to leave him in a smaller area, like a screened porch. That way he is not crated, but not entirely free to wreak havoc on their home. Some dogs won't tolerate crating if they have never been crated before. Or who knows if he was abused in some way involving a crate--for ex.being left in too long.
And wasn't there a person on the cane corso network that was interested? Might be worth checking out?

Re: Blue male in need of foster or forever home!!
Wow, I'm so sorry.
I wonder, given the breeder where this guy came from, if the pups had drugs in their systems, and if that has affected this behavior. Here we are finding a lot of Corsos and Presas kept in drug dens, and they can have coke or meth or heroin in their bloodstreams, which affects them just like it does people. Adds to the training challenge a lot when you have to detox a dog.
Matt/Amanda - can you break this thread into a new posting, and put up an announcement for adopting Freedom?

Oh, that really sucks....man. Poor boy. Something must be stressing him out.... Have they tried not crating him and just leaving him out? Mischa wouldn't be crated for anything so we gave in and left her out, she didn't do anything to the house at all...

Re: Blue male in need of foster or forever home!!
I talked to Matt (orabella) this morning and he said Freedom's new owner is bringing him back. He can't keep him crated, he escapes and proceeds to destroy the house...tearing off trim boards and door handles...so if you know of anyone interested in a big blue boy that needs some work please let me know. He was fine at Matt's house, he left him out and he never chewed a thing. Not sure if Bella was left out with him or not. I know in Parker's case, having Sadie here calmed him and he is fine to be left alone now. Anyway this guy needs a new FOREVER home. If you have any questions just send me a pm or email
wright9802@yahoo.com
and I will get back to ya.

Re: Blue male in need of foster or forever home!!
I want to let everyone know what happened yesterday. Yesterday I rescued an owner surrender. The male that has been breeding for the BRB
. He will be going to jail for around 7 years so no more worries with him. THANK GOD! The bad news is he did not do well with Freedom another male. I got bit by Buck on the elbow and had to go to the hospital. This was 100% my fault. I had to much confidence in both of them and Freedom tried to protect me as I got in the middle of them and commanded that freedom release Buck lunged and caught me on the elbow by accident. Freedom and Buck have no injuries and I am happy to say that. Buck is now with a K-9 officer from Lebanon Ohio and is adjusting well.
