Eklecktika that is great news and please do post pics of your mini-Aussie in the extended-family section of the board as many of us have other dogs besides Corsi.
Amanda I will check the Petfinder rules about that and get back to you.  seems like the shelter is doing a great job and we will all keep our fingers crossed.

It's great that the shelter is so helpful and everyone can pitch in. I am sure a lot of us would donate what we can to get them transported somewhere safe.

Given these are two large dogs from an abusive-neglectful home, I am going to come right out and say they need to go to an experienced mastiff foster home for evaluation.  I realize we all want to save these beautiful dogs, and when euthanasia is around the corner, we are tempted to take shortcuts.  However I would strongly urge everyone NOT to let these dogs go to an inexperienced trainer or someone with children.  A bad placement or a bite does more damage to the breed and the mission of rescue than we can repair

are they on petfinder?  Would you like me to post on Petfinder?  I can also put up a notice that way directing donations to the Indy shelter, to Amanda, or CCR if they will take them.
I have to say that I am completely astounded-and grateful-at the unbelievable generosity of everyone on this board.  As Morfeen noted, however, I am, admittedly, an inexperienced mastiff owner noob-albeit good with other dogs-and I do have a young son. And too, a school bus stop is right in front of my house/yard.  I would really be quite hesitant to adopt an adult dog with an unknown past, especially living where I do, and not knowing precisely what to expect.

And when-in a post-Bella funk-I got a phone call on Friday morning from a miniature australian shepherd breeder I'd spoken to sometime ago called and said she had a litter that was all spoken for save a black tri male with brown eyes-I took him.  So until Charlie gets reliably trained, and Cody gets a little older, I'm going to remove myself from the dog market and concentrate on learning more about corso's.  Hopefully, when I get to a different stage in life (meaning Cody is bigger), I'll then be able to pick up that blue corso pup that I've been hoping for.

So hopefully having a aussie-and a mini at that eek won't get me kicked off the board.  LOSER I want to be certain that if I do decide to add a corso to our family, we can be certain it's the best decision for everyone, especially the dog.

That said, I really, really appreciate that you guys thought of me! :-) And if I can help with a transport or something, I'd be more than willing to help drive, barring harvest or year-end times, as I'm the sole office staff here!

Morf I agree 100% and have let the shelter know as well.  They are not going to let them go to anyone without exp.  Someone at the shelter had placed them up for adoption and I let them know that was a bad idea, they pulled them immediately.  I am sure the male would be fine, I'm not so sure about the female.  She will require much more work.  I'm not sure if they are on petfinder or not.  I don't think they have them on since their status is currently unavailable pending foster/rescue.  I don't think posting them could hurt.  As long as it was stated they are only to go to an experienced home.  The website for the shelter is www.HamiltonHumane.com if anyone wants to check it out.  They really do an awesome job of screening adopters/fosters and they are being very particular with these guys.  They were calling the male Aspen, not sure if they have named the female.

You guys are awesome  Kiss  The shelter they are in is really nice and the people are great.  I could soooo work there LOL  I am sure they would let them go out of state, they just really want the best for them.  I have told them I am willing to transport and I just sent another email to CCR to let them know the same.   fingerscrossed  hope I find something soon!  I just got an email from one of the ladies at the shelter, she said they are responding well to treatment and the vet doesn't believe the male will need surgery for entropion.

Will they adopt out of state, Amanda?  If so, maybe we could get them to Eklectika if she is really interested.  I'm no help drive-wise since she is closer to you than I am.....but I'd pitch in for gas  cash

Aww...they are both beautiful!  I don't get it!??  How can someone starve these beautiful creatures??  The male looks like he will fill out nicely when he's got some weight put on him -- his head is huge!  I hate seeing the hip bones sticking out  Cry

I would be no help whatsoever with a transport being in VA...but I can cheer from the sidelines! Smiley

I saw the dogs again today.  I took Allie (my daughter, 6) with me so I could see their reaction to kids.  The male was a big wiggler and licked her hands.  The female I'm not so sure about.  She is the more nevous of the two.  She was barking but she did stop and come sniff Allie's hand.  She thought Allie had a treat for her Smiley
